some days i dream of having a little girl. in a house full of men, i am always outnumbered. i don’t get to revel in sequins and sparkles, but rather am surrounded by tugboats and trucks.
so sometimes, i take that moment to just dream. dream of the day when i may get to have make-believe tea parties and dress up like a princess with my little girl. dream of the time when i can sew frilly, lacy things and actually use the color pink in a digital scrapbooking layout.
and while i wait and dream, i’ll continue to soak up the fun that my boys bring to my life. because i know this won’t last forever.
{ps: this is not an announcement of any kind, so don’t read too far into it.

i don’t know about you, but for me, the new year always brings with it a feeling of freshness. i love that we get to have the year’s slate wiped clean and we get to start over on goals, renew relationships, and breathe new life into our pursuits. i’m going to be doing so with this little photo blog that i’ve got here. i’m going to post a few photos from past sessions with a few new twists, and i am looking forward to all that this new year has in store for future sessions as well.
what does the new year have in store for you and your creativity?

oh this fun family! these are friends of ours from our orange county days and i really like erin a lot. she’s so sweet and unassuming and just really has such a good heart. i loved being able to capture her and her family (those adorable little girls!) a while ago. we had an interesting session, as the girls weren’t loving the situation, but in the end i think we had a good show.

this weekend we took a little walk around our neighborhood and i snapped some of my boys. my three-year-old has ZERO patience for the camera, so all i get of him lately are silly faces or blurry ones because he is running away. oh, and i’m also privileged to get to photograph the back of his head. i’m so lucky.
since i live in southern california and it’s a million degrees all year round, i was so glad to have it actually cool down a little while we were out. and by cool down a little, i mean it was about 75 degrees instead of 90. yee-haw!
luckily it’s been nice since last night, but we’ve been informed it’s not sticking around. i swear, i’m about to pack up the kids and move to colorado! then at least i’d get some semblance of fall and some crispness in the air.
but i digress….
here are some fun ones to share:

hope you all enjoy your wednesday! i’ll be off on a road trip with my boys this weekend to visit the great state of utah and hopefully soak up as much FALL weather as i can handle. wish me luck with 2 little ones and a 10-hour drive!

in the church that i belong to, we have men and women called missionaries who take 2 years out of their lives to serve a mission for our church in some part of the world. that means that where we live, we have missionaries assigned to our area. we like to have them over for dinner as a service as well as a fun time to get to know them while they’re stationed here.
these two elders (that’s what they are called) are such great guys to be around. and since they were over at our house for dinner one night, they saw my lighting equipment and asked if i take pictures. yep! was my reply, and they asked if i’d take a couple of them. and i do mean a couple, we had a mini-session that lasted all of 8 minutes.
here are a couple from that session. again, it’s nothing major, we didn’t even use a backdrop, just the wall of my front room.
but it was fun to play around a little bit.

i will be having a couple of great sessions coming up soon, so stay tuned for those!
